I read, with great interest, Janice Boyle's recent post about some Brewer's
Yeast products not containing chromium. I immediately grabbed the canister
of Premium Imported Instant Brewer's Yeast (which I bought from General
Nutrition Center, just like Janice did), sitting in my 'fridge, and found
chromium listed - 180mcg approximate per human serving (2 tablespoonsful).
The label lists vitamins, amino acid profile, minerals & trace elements and
other components. Ingredients are: 100% Premium Imported Brewer's Yeast.
No additives and no preservatives. Code 050311. Expiration 8-99. Maybe
there's a difference between the tablets & the instant Brewer's Yeast?
Don't have an answer for that one, so I checked out the Web to see what I
could find. The Chromium Information Bureau can be found at
http://www.chromium.edu/intro.htm. Once you get there you can go the
Chromium FAQ - http://www.chromium.edu.faq. According to it, the natural
sources of dietary chromium are organ meats, mushrooms, wheat germ,
broccoli, brewer's yeast and processed meats. I still don't know if there's
a difference between the tablets and the powdered form of Brewer's Yeast,
but it would seem that Brewer's Yeast is Brewer's Yeast, regardless of the
form. My quest continues.

Hope this helps,
