I had an episode with my Pookie with the chewing and it sounded like she was
either chewing rocks or her teeth.  When I brought her to the vet he told me
that she either had an ulcer or something else because chewing like that
without food means that they are in great discomfort.  I wouldn't take your
fuzzy back to that other ferret.  Seems like he didn't want to waste any of
his precious time.  I had one like that too and I changed quickly.  And
let's admit it.  We all are fanatics when it comes to our fuzzies.  HA HA
