I know it is hard but I think your husband is right let them fight it out.
I have had some that look like they are killing each other but it is just
play most of the time.  I have also found that when I pull them apart the
one that was getting his but kicked is the one that is trying to find the
other one first.  They have a very tuff skin and can take alot of abuse.  I
would let them sleep together also mine fight like mad then snuggle up and
go to sleep on top of each other.
