Saturday was a bonanza of ferret references on Oregon Public TV's British
Comedy Night.
The first show, The Thin Blue Line (9pm), is about a squad room of police
officers. They had taken a group of teenage hooligans to an Outward Bound
program run by a loony in a kilt. (And he obviously wasn't wearing anything
under it based upon the reaction of the group when he crossed his legs). At
the conclusion of the loony's inspirational speech, he said: "Now run up
that mountain like a ferret up a pant leg".
The second show, The Vicar of Dibbley,(10pm) is about a woman vicar. Since
the locals love their pets and farm animals so much, she decided to have a
special service for the animals. As the show progressed, it looked like no
one would attend the service. It was going to be an embarrassing fiasco.
But Sunday morning, people from miles around showed up with their pets and
farm animals. Included in the montage of animals was a very brief shot of 2
ferrets on leashes.
