Hello FML,

As many of you already know Salena, my 4 year, 10 month old silver mitt
sprite died March 30. I want to again thank all of you who wrote privately,
I think I answered everybody directly, if not I apologise. Anyway on to the
good news; since Salena's leaving to go TO the Rainbow Bridge (I feel our
PetKids go TO the bridge and wait for us there), my wife Tammie and I have
been "lightly" looking at other ferrets for one who could not replace
Salena, which certainly isn't possible or likely, but one that may help fill
the hole she left in our lives. We looked around at a few places that had
ferts but none seemed to really "grab us". About two months ago Lori Sies
our Ferret Club president and private breeder had a momma fert that had
three kits. About a month or so ago we were able to see the youngins. Well
we started getting a bit attached to one little guy; there were 2 males and
1 female. Well, to shorten this up a bit; Tammie my wife got the 1 male we
kind of liked and "gave" him to me for our 2-year wedding anniversary. We
had planned to go to Hawaii leaving June 23rd. Well, I got home from work
on Friday the 21st (I work 2nd shift so I get home around midnight. Tammie
says I think the computer's messed up (She's a Mac person and I', a PC/DOS
kind of guy and built a Pentium 90 system back in Sept.); I figure, oh
great, messed up system right before going away. So I trudge upstairs where
the Pentium lives and walk in and there in a Critter Carrier is the little
silver fuzzbutt we'd been looking atm. :) Tammie had already made
arrangements with Lori who was going to keep him till we got back. Well,
needless to say, I was shocked and quite happy, and the computer wasn't even
broke!

The little guy is a bundle of shear, raw energy. As Rudy said a month or
more ago; I'd forgotten how crazy and silly a young kit could be. We
decided that we'd try to find a Hawaaian name for the little guy. (Yea, I
know Hawaii is a FFZ, but we wanted something different and most Hawaaian
names mean somethging.) We tried the words for "two biter" in a Hawaaian
dictionary but I can't even spell it, let alone say it. At the hotel we
stayed at they have a little bar we liked called the "Makai Bar". Makai
(short a, long i) means "by the ocean" or "seaward"; since our room was
definitely by the ocean we decided to call the new fuzzbutt "Makai" or Mak
for short.

I think Salena has now earned her wings as a "Guardian Angel Ferret" by
showing us that we needed more fuzzbutt parent training and helping us with
what seems to be a very good match. With all that allow me to introduce
"Makai" the fuzzbutt, our 2nd ferret in celebration of our 2nd anniversary.
"Makai the fearless" leaps off our rather high king sized bed and pretty
much gets along with "Haily the Squeek" our cat. Two of Salena's <RB-GAF>
and Haily's pictures are on my homepage and if Makai ever slows down enough
to get a good picture I'll add a couple of him as well. I'd like to thank
Tammie my wife and Salena <RB-GAF> for returning us back to NON-FFZ status :)
