Hello to all,
I also am a newcomer to the list as well as a "new mother" and live in a
FFZ. I've felt pretty isolated here until now.
I got Jillian a few months ago - a 10 week old MF baby. The first night
she woke me up banging around in her cage and crying so loudly I was
afraid she was hurt. I went to her and picked her up, talked to her
quietly for a while, gave her a little more food, and put her back to bed.
Evidently she was just lonesome and needed someone to let her know she
wasn't alone.
A short time ago Hobbes - a 3-4 year old neutered male - was added to our
family; my son intercepted him on his way to the Humane Society. She
screamed like he was killing her and pooped as they were rolling around on
the floor. I usually broke it up when she got loud but one day I noticed
Hobbs only had his front feet on her belly and he was looking at _me_ so I
knew he wasn't doing anything to her - she was just throwing an absoulte
fit. The next to the last fight was exceptionally loud and I just scooped
her up and put her in her cage alone for a couple of hours. I told both of
them sternly "This is enough, I'm tired of this". A week or more later
they started up again and I "rescued" her. She went to sleep in my arms
and there has been no more _real_ fighting. She chases _him_ now.
I too would like to hear about the vaccinations mostly because of Hobbes.
The people who cared for him for three years (and they got him from someone
else) _never_ had him to a vet and my vet only gave him a booster.
LA, Hobbes, and Jilian
