This is the first post for me about my babies. My boyfriend and I drove to
Wisconsin to get our two about a month ago. They are so lovable that we
definately agree that they were worth the year long wait (first waiting
until the holiday season to make sure they were legal in Michigan, and
about 3 months trying to locate a pair to buy). We live with the FAQ as
our bible and are as nervous as new parents could possibly be!

We are not sure how old Scruff and Val are (assuming around 12-14
weeks) since we bought them at a chain pet store (we were desperate!) and
to tell you the truth we aren't completely positive they are female (we
forgot to ask the vet to be sure). But we've already had a rubber band
incident with Val (that took us to the vet faster than you would believe)
and got Scruff vaccinated (Fervac- No problems!). But I have a couple
questions for the "pros".

How lactose intolerant are ferrets? Scruff who is incredibly picky when it
comes to treats, went crazy when I let him have a piece of Cinnamon toast
crunch cereal that was in milk. He jumped into the bowl that I was holding
and aside from spilling it all, drank up some milk with delight. It didn't
affect his stools but I wonder if the only things he seems to like might
be bad for him.

Second, how can we keep our babies sleeping throughout the night. Val
sleeps more than Scruff and when Scruff wakes up in the middle of the
night, he has a field day munching on Val's ear. She wakes up and cries so
we have to seperate them and entertain Scruff. Will they outgrow this or
should we try to keep Scruff awake during the day so he'll be tired at night?

Lastly I'd like to mention we attend Michigan Tech in the Upper Penninsula
of Michigan and would welcome any nearby ferret parents to email us and
let us know where they are and especially let us know of any Michigan ferret
news. Any downstate email is welcome too since that is where we are
originally from!

Thanks tons!
