Hi Everyone,
We just got a second ferret from Dick B's shelter 4 li'l paws, and she
is wonderful!!! She is a silver mit, and has taken very well to
Weehawk, our 9mos. black sable. We brought her home on Sat. and she
and Weehawk tore around our apt. for hours! The only scuffle is that
he wouldn't let her in his hammock, so I put a blanket on the floor of
the cage for her, then weehawk climbed down to the floor to join her,
and while he was sleeping she stole the hammock! It was really funny
when he woke up and had to play king of the hammock to try and reclaim
it :) Now they are alternating between both in the hammock, and both
on the blanket. We haven't figured out a name yet, but we are working
on it.
Someone had asked about hammocks, well Weehawk loves his (and it is
his :)) I just cut out a big rectangle of cordoroy, cut a hole in each
corner, and looped fabric through the holes and over the top bars of
his cage, he shreds the fabric ties once in a while, and drops himself
into his litter box, but most of the time he just sleeps in it,
although with all of the tussleing over who gets the hammock, we will
have to wait and see if it survives! I am making them a flannel one
for christmas, which I am putting a thicker fabric along the edges,
and with thin cords from the corner button holes to the cage, but any
piece of fabric seems acceptable. When weehawk was alone he loved his
hammock, and was always upset when it fell down.
And yes Ken, Weehawk also tries to chase cars when he is on his leash!
When I first took him out on a leash, he was really scared whenever a
car went by, but after he figured out it wasn't going to get him, he
decided he was going to get it! I took both ferrets out today to dig
in the garden, they loved it, but also spent most of their time
getting their leashes tangled together, anyone have any great ideas
for how to walk two ferrets at once?
I also wanted to say that ferrets are indeed addicting, especially
after visiting the shelter and his 15 ferrets! It was just amazing to
see that many wonderful fuzzies all together!!! The four li'l paws
ferret shelter is just a great place to visit, and I definitely will
never buy another pet store ferret again ( I got weehawk from a pet
store before I knew better) I would recommend visiting Dick B. and
his Ferrets if you are anywhere near N.H., it is a wonderful
experience to get to see and handle all of those wonderful furry
woozles! Even better to take another one home :)
Now that I have two, I am trying to convert my spare bedroom into a
ferret playground, I have a doll house which I am going to turn into a
sleeping place, thanks to W.M. & Rockey & Squeekers suggestion, and I
am going to get some dryer tube, and some pvc, but I would love to
hear of any other ideas people have used for their wonderous woozles!
I have been trying to figure out some sort of slide, but haven't
solved that yet.
Anyway, thanks for listening, and for all being here, this FML is just
the greatest thing!!!!!
Krystal, now owned by Weehawk, Samantha/Elenor/???, and Messy & Tugger
the two overrun kitties, who used to think they owned the place! :)
