Meet little Mocha. She was a "beloved" family pet and surrendered by
her owners to the Ferret Rescue of Maine. Problem was that she was
almost dead when she arrived. It would have cost too much to bring her
to the vet, so her "family" just let her starve to death. She was
nothing more than skin and bones when she arrived at the rescue and was
brought immediately to the rescue's vet where she received around the
clock emergency care. The vet didn't know if Mocha could survive, but
the loving folks at the Ferret Rescue of Maine did - they could see
that even though she could barely pick up her head, she still had a
wee sparkle in her eyes. That sparkle told them everything they needed
to know. Mocha got hand feedings, fluids and medications day and night
and it was still a full week until she was able to even take a drink
of water on her own. For months now Mocha has continued to improve,
finally getting some muscle mass back so that she can walk around
without falling over. The Blizzard Memorial Fund was created for
ferrets exactly like Mocha - the "throw away" ferrets, abused, tortured
and unloved. Support Our Shelters' Blizzard Memorial Fund helped The
Ferret Rescue of Maine by sending money to help with veterinary costs
to save little Mocha's life.

Mocha lives on because YOU purchased raffle tickets or donated money
to the Blizzard Memorial Fund. It's really that simple - buy a ticket,
help save a life.

UPDATE: Sadly, little Mocha flew away to the bridge this week. We are
very happy that she spent her last months with people who loved and
cared for her. Thank you Ferret Rescue of Maine for your tireless
efforts on Mocha's behalf.
