I've been using hospital pads ever since I was learning about ferrets
from The Ferret Nook. I've taken the backing off some but some of the
more active ferrets have kind of shredded the exposed backing stuff so
I would rather leave it on. But I have cut some in half to double what
I have and make the pad fit the cages better without folding it which
often encourages the ferrets to burrow into the folded part. When they
are cut I sew quilt binding over the raw edge. It takes a couple passes
of stitching to get it all but it really makes the pad nicer and safer.
