FINALLY an update on the alleged ferret attack on an infant in Grain
Valley, MO earlier this year! Read the information below VERY CAREFULLY
so you understand what's going on here . . .

<http://www.examiner.net/features/x536826501/Grain-Valley-couple-arrested-charged-in-ferret-attack-on-child>

Note how the article says, "tests performed by the Missouri State
Highway Patrol crime laboratory showed that the ferret's stomach
contained human blood" WOW! As much as we hate to admit this, it is
not *impossible* for the ferret to have done the damage to the infant
as reported; it's more *IMPROBABLE* though - given that there was,
supposedly, a dog also at home at the time of the attack. Given this
scenario, you just can't rule out the dog OR the ferret so what it
really comes down to is the evidence: where were the remains of the
infant's fingers found????

VERY INTERESTING that it doesn't say "the ferret's stomach contained
human remains (i.e. flesh and bones of the fingers) AND blood". It just
mentions human BLOOD. HMMM. Why is this? How come there is no mention
of the actual fingers? Certainly the fingers could not have been
excreted by the ferret because it was supposedly killed by the baby's
father immediately upon discovering the mauled infant. Sooooo, if a
necropsy WAS done by the State Highway Patrol in order to determine
that there was human blood in the ferret's stomach, why is there no
mention of the FINGERS being found as well? That is so glaringly odd!!!
It would have been IMPOSSIBLE to find blood and no fingers!!!

Well, knowing and understanding law enforcement and the law as I do,
I'm thinking that the test results are worded specifically and
INTENTIONALLY in a way that keeps everything vague and ambiguous b/c
*someone* dropped the ball and clearly failed to test other
"reasonable" suspects (i.e. the contents of the family dog's stomach)
before the DOG excreted the "evidence"!!! Since there is no mention of
human remains being found inside the ferret's digestive system, the
only other "logical" explanation is another animal.

This is REALLY a 'no brainer' and now that the prosecuting attorney
and police dept. have figured out that they were focusing on the wrong
animal and didn't do the proper "due diligence" by examining the dog as
well, they can only charge the parents with child endangerment b/c they
have no hardcore physical evidence. Examining ALL animals and
ANYONE/ANYTHING that was in the house at the time of the attack would
have been STANDARD PROTOCOL instead of just taking the parents at their
word that the ferret was responsible for the attack - esp. now that it
has been proven the parents lied about their whereabouts when the
attack took place (based on cell phone activity).

And here's what also gets me: Because there is no evidence of any human
remains inside the ferret, there is absolutely NO WAY to prove that it
was the the FERRET that actually attacked the infant!! Every story I
read reports that there was considerable blood on and around the infant
so who's to say that the blood found in the ferret's stomach wasn't a
result of the ferret simply LICKING the blood up????? SERIOUSLY!!
Ferrets are carnivores and it wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if
I observed a ferret licking up blood. Doesn't mean the ferret is guilty
of the attack!!!

Bottom line: The public has a right to know "WHERE ARE THE INFANTS'
FINGERS?????" City & state taxes pays the L.E. officers' salaries and
that makes L.E. officers and their actions accountable to those paying
their salaries. Those in Grain Valley have a right to know the answer
to that question!! If the answer is "We don't know b/c we didn't find
the fingers in the ferret and we didn't test anyone/anything else" then
CLEARLY L.E. screwed up this case BIG TIME!! There is NO EXCUSE for
overlooking the other animal(s) in the house and if I was standing in
front of the officers right now, I would say that to each of their
faces!!!

WHO is going to hold the responding officers and those working this
case accountable for the way it was/has been handled???? SHEER
STUPIDITY!!!

Jennifer
