Dear Sue and Katy,

Today was quite a beautiful day here in Heaven. The sky was a lovely
blue, with clouds of fluffy white everywhere. I decided it was a nice
time for laying on my back on the nice soft grass, and simply enjoy the
day. Pretty soon I was joined by my brother Tisha and he brought along
with him a dozen or so kits with him. We started out by looking for
shapes in the clouds and then the kits began to tickle one and another
with blades of grass and making wishes on dandelions that grew on the
hillside where we lay. I think I got more enjoyment listening to them
giggling and making wishes then I did looking at the clouds and soon
joined in. As the air filled with little wishes floating everywhere,
Hobbes made his way through them all and handed me over not one, but
two scrolls.

"They are both from the same family and the Big Guy thought it would be
nice and greet them together.", He said as he blew dandelion seeds away
from his face. I didn't have the nerve to tell him that in doing that,
he would only incite the kits to make even more wishes - which they did
- and darn it, if those wishes didn't follow Hobbes as he walked off,
and all we could hear was him mumbling and waving his arms about trying
to make a path he could see through to his next destination.

Even before I had a chance to open either one of the scrolls, I had
three kits in my lap and the rest of them looking over my shoulder and
asking who was coming and when would they be here, and oh yes, could
they help! I had allowed some kits to help me last greeting and I guess
word got around and so of course, how could I say no? ( Really I
couldn't say no <grin>)

I opened up the first scroll and found a lovely fuzzit lady by the name
of Peebles. It seems she didn't have a good early life, but later on,
when she was returned to the loving shelter she had come fromand she
was given the best life ever. We all agreed that Peeble was very lucky
indeed. Not every ferret is lucky enough to have a good "forever" home
and like some of us were are able to do so, and we know we were most
certainly blessed indeed, but when "forever" homes can not be found,
we then turn to places known as Fuzzit Shelters. Much like a "forever"
home, a shelter is a place that is filled with safe places, and
security, they have good comfy places to sleep and yummy food and
treats to eat, but most of all they are filled with unconditional love
and patience. The shelter moms and dads who run these homes are angels
on earth, people who will go to any length, any place, any distance, in
order to protect and save a fuzzit in need. In many ways they are like
postal workers with their creed of "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat,
nor gloom of night will stay these couriers from their swift completion
of their appointed rounds."

Nothing stops them from reaching out their gentle hands in help and so
we do our best, as Greeters and as Guardians to watch over and send
love, comfort and support to all of those wonderful, warm and loving
shelter moms and dads all over the world - and even for the ones that
are up here!

The second scroll was for a gentleman fuzzit by the name of Hershel
- one of the kits made a commet that with a name like Hershel, which
was close enough to Hearshy, meant that he has to be a very sweet guy
indeed, and we all agreed this had to be true. He was lucky to have a
good home too. One where he was made to feel like the center of the
universe. As his scroll said, he loved to be cuddled and gave kisses,
even as he was leaving, he gave kisses. That made me cry, because
Hershal was being given love and permission to pass on and at the same
time he was leaving love for Sue. A love that will live on and will
continue always until she is reunited with both of these fuzzies.

"Alright then kits, what do you suppose we should do next?", I asked.

And together as one cohesive unit, they said, "WE GREET THEM!!!"

I had to laugh, because they were so eager and so ready and all they
could think about was running down to the Bridge and being the first
one there to say welcome to Heaven! Who could blame them? I waited for
quite a few years myself before being promoted to Greeter and I have
so enjoyed being one.

So without further ado, off we to the Bridge we went. Along the way the
kits grabbed pawfuls of dandelions, being ever so careful to not let a
single wish get away and on we went. By the time we got there, there
were not only huge boquets full of dandelions, there was a whole field
of them and the Bridge was shaded by large oak trees that were filled
everywhere with the sight and smell of wysteria. When everyone got
quiet and ready for Peebles and Hershal, a beam of sunlight suddnely
broke through the shade and landed on the very center of the Bridge.
I could hear soft music coming from everywhere, something grand and
angelic, and then two forms wavered in the sunlight, almost like a
mirage, then there seemed to be a golden glitter swirling about them
helping to form their fuzzy little bodies into solid beings, and then
before our eyes we could see Peebles and Hershal.

Both were standing there, looking a bit confused at first, but then
they looked and saw us standing there and they began the rest of their
walk over to our side. One of the kits, a tiny little sable, ran up
to them with her boquet of dandelions and she thrust not only the
dandelions, but her tiny little body at them in an attempt to give
them a huge kit-hug and a mighty kit-welcome... and then we were all
set to ease and laughter.

As Peebles and Hershal stood in the midst of this dandelion dream, they
blew many wishes. All of them for both you Sue and Katy as well as for
the shelter, and the shelters kids still there, and the ones that will
arrive when it is their time of need. They told me to let you know they
had arrived, in style and with much love waiting for them. The love
they have for the both of you could be seen in their beautiful, shining
eyes and all they could say is, thank you so very much for being there
for us when we needed you most.

They told me to pass this on to you both.

"We know we had good long lives and truly wished they could have been
longer and healthier, but it was time for us to come here, to get our
wings and to go out and be of comfort. We could only do this because we
were so loved by you, and the least we can do now is go and share that
love with those in need. Don't worry though, we will look in on you as
well, because your love is what made our lives as wonderful as they
were."

No more sickness, no more worry, no more pain ..... only love and the
memories of being loved.

In Love & In Comfort,

Pie O' Pah
