the furred beings are always the first to suffer in an economical
'downturn' . given how many 'throw-aways' we have taken in thru the
years, most humans don't deserve the love and ,uh, bitemarks that come
from loving these babies, and making them family.

given we live on the olympic peninsula, doubt that any of the shelters
that will now be flooded with the 'unloved' will notify us... we had
hoped to downsize our rescue population, concentrating on the older,
adrenal and insulinomic, but when the call comes, and it did (and
does), we have to answer. am assuming that all of the animal rescuers
be they cat, dog, ferret or other will step up to the plate, and take
in the ones that would have gone to king co.

i know that when T & J's wildlife rescue calls us... what's one more
ferret, or 3. more love, more poo, more fun... and now with the 3 fear
biters, learning more patience while not bleeding out. hopefully all
humans who love other beings uncondionally will open their homes and
take a cat, a kitten, a puppy, a snake,or a ferret. The wisdom will
come in the knowing your limit, both house-wise, and money wise, and
quality for all that are now family.

working at harborview, i see the 'throwaways' in human form, and there
are precious little resources for them as well.

we haven't gotten down to 'putting them to sleep' thus far..... still
waiting for THAT budget cut to come.

there is nothing that any of us can do to change the closing of the
King Co shelter.. it's a done deal.

all we can do is try to help those who do take in rescues as we can,
and be thankful to those crazy enough to do so!
