I don't want to get into the debates going on here about raw vs.
kibble..but I do have a tip. I buy my meat, label it, date it and
freeze it. That way I am always using meat (for myself as well as the
ferrets), that has had 2 or 3 months to get recalled. Between the mad
cow scares a few years ago, and the many E. coli recalls, I find this
works well, and makes me feel more comfortable. It's just an extra
buffer, and you can quite easily get into a routine of rotating you
meat.
