A local breeder surrendered 73 ferrets to Texas Ferret Lover's Rescue
(http://www.txferretrexcue.org) on Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2008.
With the surrender of these ferrets, the breeder is no longer in the
ferret business.
PetCo sent 2 employees to help and other local animal rescues loaned
carriers. There are approximately 20 volunteers who stepped up to
outfit cages, bathe ferrets, trim nails and clean ears. All help was
greatly appreciated.
Eleven ferrets needed veterinary care and were treated. The majority of
them (70) are intact and will need to be spayed/neutered. Costs for the
spay/neuters range from $2450 - $3150, depending on the vet discount.
We should have final numbers in a day or two and will post that
information when we get it.
Donations for the vet can be made directly to the vet at:

The local breeder is donating approximately 400 - 500 lbs of Mazuri &
Zupreem food. Totally Ferret has donated 90lbs of food that should
arrive by the end of the week.
Some bedding and Croc-Loc dishes are on their way, as well. Millie
needs food, hammocks, toys (jingle balls, dangly toys, etc.) cloth
tunnels, fleece and baby blankets.
