Dear Folks

I apologize for being late in responding. I'm honored to have been
voted in as a member of this Council.

I pledge to do my best to serve the ferret community in this capacity.

Let's jump right into things. The discussions until March 31st will be
the "Minimal Standard of Care Provided" and "ADV - Why Test & Which
Test".

The invitation is to all those who have hung their shingle out calling
themselves either a shelter/rescue/or sanctuary.

If you fit that description as serving the ferret community, then
please join:
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ferret-Shelter_Council/

The mission here, is to establish some same ground as to what the
public can expect from these entities that are receiving ferrets, and
for you each to be known for such disciplines, or lack there of. When
working a rescue and placement, it’s imperative we know what minimal
standards of care are common place with you.

When we're confronted with rescues of any size, we need to know which
shelters are maintaining which disciplines, and to move forward with
educated choices in who to ask for help, most of all what to expect.
With all of that information given, we can expeditiously manage and
assist in rescues and project financial assessments.

Thanks for your cooperation, and I look forward to the volley of
discussions and every shelter/rescue/sanctuary’s participation.

Affectionately,
Barb Clay
