Honestly, it sounds very much like a simple case of neighbors were
annoyed, and they got their way. It is easy for the humane society
to come in and say what is wrong, what is too sick to keep alive, and
what is "bad".

If we on the FML were allowed to tour the animal shelter at any given
time, we could also find fault with many areas. This is why searches
and seizures should not be legal unless there is a period of time in
which to shape up problems.

What legal actions can be taken by Carole now? I do not know the full
story, since all I have are news articles to go on. The immediate
seizure should not have happened if the animals were taken care of.
What veterinarian signed off on these animals? What medical proof do
they have? Pictures, videos? If they have nothing, the state cannot
possibly defend themselves in court. They did this simply because
people complained, and instead of asking her to rehome them to another
rescue, stormed in and took them all immediately. This is terrible.

Even if you do not agree that they were taken care of, there were over
sixty animals put down for what seems to be no reason except that the
animal shelter was not going to house them all.

The rainbow bridge had over sixty visitors/crossers from this. Often we
do not think of things like that, since they were not our ferrets, but
these were her ferrets, other people's surrenders, and they - just like
the little guy who got thrown from the car - received injustice they
did not deserve. I hope they are all dookin' it up across the bridge,
and looking down at Carole with love and thanks for what she did taking
care of them. Carole could not have done anything to stop the police or
animal control from taking them, with no clean up order.

Laryssa
