I agree completely with FY on her previous post about the comments and
funds regarding the DMK ferrets. I (Misty) am from the Broward Ferret
Rescue. Our DMK babies will be arriving on Tuesday. We will be getting
seven. That is all we can handle right now as our shelter is at full
capacity. We have over one hundred ferrets right now under the shelters
care. Almost half of those ferrets are special needs ferrets. Those
babies are taken care of by our members willing to keep them in there
homes and care for them 24/7. We also have many fosters with other
members. I will be housing the DMK babies here at my home as I wish
to put as little strain on our shelter as possible.
I have also been receiving the response that any donations given, from
almost anywhere to benefit shelters, will be going to the Ohio rescue.
As was stated earlier this is no longer needed to the full extent that
was given. All of our shelters need HELP! I believe that all the
shelters were stretched thin before the Ohio rescue but we all rose
to the task.
I have done my best to raise the funds for the arrival of our babies so
as not to take away from our already needed babies. I have set up an
EBay account, and have raided the houses of our member, so that money
can be raised for them right away. I will be receiving help from a vet
but that will also be costly. They are trying to raise the money for
the bills. Its damn hard!!
So I believe we need to redirect some of our energy back to the nations
ferret shelters. Let me also say that I am extremely proud to be a part
of a community that will stand up and fight for its own and handle the
victory with immediate grace!
