Selina, You have some good info there just one thing I'd note a
change on:
...."Another option is to feed a raw diet (e.g. raw chicken or
turkey, including ground bones).
When choosing to feed a raw diet, in order to gain the utmost benefit
offer the meat on the bone; this allows the ferret to utilize their
specialized teeth properly. -- Offering ground bones may offer them
some calcium, but won't help their oral health.
Without going into a huge presentation of what a RAW diet entails,
you might consider rewording thusly:
"To coincide with the obligate carnivore nature of the ferret, offering
a variety of raw meaty bone sources and whole prey type sources will
help offer the ferret optimal health. Another option is to offer the
ferret a natural prey diet which entails offering a variety of prey
sources from insects & invertebrates to various rodents, lagomorphs
and small poultry which are offered in whole form, sometimes even as
live prey."
Cheers,
Kim
