I had a question about using Carafate. My ferret Jillie has been teeth
grinding, and I asked about trying carafate to illeviate her discomfort.
Others have mentioned that it helps nausua or coats the stomach. My vet
prescribed it as 1ml every six hours 10 mintutes before eating. I was
wondering how often and when others give it. Every six hours seemed like
a lot, although I suppose she eats that often. However, she's on free
feed, so except for the occasional duck soup, I have no idea when 10
minutes before she eats is! I can't really pull the kibble that's always
available, I have two other ferrets, one who's insulinomic. Also I'm
gone during the day for about 10 hours or so. How do others give this
med?!
We've done many tests and it seems Jillie has IBD. My vet thinks we
should perhaps put her on pred, but I'm hesitant after seeing all the
bad side effects it has had on Mikette (who takes it for insulinoma).
I was wondering what others thoughts are on this.
I appreciate any thoughts!!
Thanks
Risa
