I am home from Florida. While there, I was able to take a few shots
with a disposable camera. The pictures are not high quality, but I think
they show the damage Jeanne has done to the area in and around Vero.
Sebastian is around 12 miles north of Vero.
Many manufactured home parks around the area looked like what we captured
at Barefoot Bay.
There is still a lot of evidence of Frances and Jeanne in Vero Beach.
Orlando, while recovering, is still repairing Charley's destruction. We
stayed at the Embassy Suites, and they had to move us twice before we
found a room that the carpet was dry. We were thankful to get a room.
Numerous people from the Vero area were living in the hotel. We were
frequently even asked 'are you relief?'.
You can view the shots at the shelter webpage below. There are 12
pictures. To bring the rest of them up, you will need to click on the
right arrow, then click the picture to enlarge it.

Our Florida shelters need our help. Even when a home looks intact, the
water has usually invaded. The rain blew in a horizontal plane, blowing
it in around windows, doors, and roof ventilation.
On the news one evening, they showed new homes -only a year old- families
had paid $500,000.00 and more for, with the water streaming out of their
walls, beneath the baseboard. (they were unhappy with the contractor)
I know there are many others with needs, too. Please remember these and
our other shelter operators in Florida. Donations are so needed, and I
know, appreciated.
