I've had some questions recently about the Ferret Health List. Here are
some quick answers to ones that stand a good chance of being held by
others.

1. The sole reason that I haven't been carrying over posts to help teach
others recently is because my time has been thoroughly hosed so I haven't
been able to get to it.

2. The team of moderators is the late Christopher Bennett in memory, Dr.
Bruce Williams who is a veterinary pathologist and ferret specialist,
and four of us who aren't vets but who work well with the others, were
unanimously approved (and continue to be approved) by all existing
moderators, and who have a lot of experience with ferret health issues:
Mike Janke, Pam Sessoms, Troy Lynn Eckart, and me.

3. The reason you are getting a "by invitation only" at the Yahoo site
is because months ago Christopher moved us to:
http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth

4. The Complete Archives are not in the Smartgroups site but can be
reached by linking form there using the bold print to get to:
http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org/

5. Besides the discussions there are other useful features at the
smartgroups site like the files and the links.

6. The few rules (which need to be followed and are designed mostly to
make it a comfy place for the many vet members who are among those who
reply publicly and privately when others can't handle a topic or when
they just plain want to add or emphasize a point) are easily found in
the Reference Shelf within the Files section.

7. Yes, we know that it has some problems and we do try to find
answers when those happen, so the list owners can be contacted about
administrative things at the owners' addy instead of by post. The
simple fact of the matter is that NO free host is excellent and problems
are more common with larger sites.

8. Because it is a moderated site it may take up to 12 hours (but
usually only a few hours or sometimes minutes) for you post to be
approved depending on when in the 24 hour period you post, if it is a
holiday, etc. If your post doesn't appear in a longer time frame than
a day then it may have been lost in the ether and never reached us so
in that situation, please, resend. (This is rare.)

Thanks, Bill! If you feel there is no reason for this just pull it
instead of including it. I do apologize for my time being hosed and
hope to get to some cross-posts as my schedule allows.
