You have exactly described a mink.

Obviously it has been kept as a pet, so it cannot be returned to the
wild.  You may be required to have a wildlife rehabilitator's license
to keep it however.
 
I know some members of this list have kept mink as pets.  They can give
you advice on mink care, which is very similar to ferret care.
