Some rare ferrets don't respond as well as normal or Prednisone, some
other few are that way with Proglycem, and a few don't with either.  She
might be one of those individuals and need to have Proglycem added or to
get that surgery sooner than you'd thought, or she might not be getting
enough Pred.  How much is she getting in milligrams?  We have had a small
female on as high as 5 full milligrams a day, but that is usually high.
The Pediapreds come in 1 mg/ml and 2 mg/ml concentrations, if memory
serves.  Vets who are not used to ferrets very often give way too little
Pred because they don't know the dosing for ferrets and they expect them
to be more prone to bad side effects, but most ferrets have a very easy
easy time with steroids and no troubles.
 
How often a day is the med given?  Pred has an 8 hour window of
effectiveness, so giving it two times a day is better than once a day,
and three times will hold some who can't otherwise be held.
 
Might make sense to get one of the glucose monitors and check her levels
at different times.
