>1. How long did you have to keep your ferret in their sick cage w/
>little exercise?
I let Miss Bonnie sleep in the sick cage the first night. The morning
after her surgery I let her out with the others to play. She had sub-q
stitches so there was little chance of one of the others chewing her
stitches out. She felt normal.
>2. Could anyone tell me what a normal ferret temp is?
Their normal temp is 101-103. It will tend to go up if she struggles to
avoid the temp taking.
>Taz feels warm to the touch, (is this normal after surgery?)
Miss Bonnie still feels hot on the places where her hair hasn't grown
back, but her temp is normal.
>I am going to try to take her temp. I have never been good at this, and
>my husband won't even assist me. He thinks scruffing is cruel, hopefully
>tonight he will see it is necessary. Does anyone have any advice on how
>to make taking a temp easier?
Use a fast digital thermometer to minimize how long you must keep it in.
Use a dab of vasoline. Once it is in, hold the thermometer and the tail
together so he doesn't wiggle it out.
>3. How long did your ferret look out of it, after surgery? Taz was
>on pain meds until we brought her home today. She is starting to get
>irritable. I wish they had given me some pain meds to take home. All
>they gave me was antibiotics.
Miss Bonnie got no pain meds after she came home and didn't seem to need
any.
