I'm like some of the others in regards to the two: I don't think
attention span has anything to do with memory in ferrets. Mine have the
attention span of about 1/100th of a millisecond. But memory? That's
different all together.

For about two years we had our boat in slip E-7. When returning from
walks all of the kids automatically turned onto our finger pier beside
the boat. About 8 months ago we moved out to slip E-43. Well, now
when we return from walks they all STILL want to turn in at E-7. With
a little coaxing they will finally move on to our current slip. Some
of them will even bound up the steps and jump over onto the boat.

(PS: When they jump I ALWAYS have them securely leashed so they don't
make a splashdown!!)
