Clear DayHey Hey Hey.
I am writing to address Mysicalshadow's post yesterday about Ferret
Guardian Rescue Haven. I could not believe what I was reading.
Mysticshadow writes:
>I have been trying to work something out with the lady that runs it
>for me to pick him up this weekend for the past 3 weeks,
Maybe you are unaware that Diane has recently rescued from a back yard
breeder that placed her numbers well over 100 ferrets. ALL of those
ferrets have been spayed or neutered and had their medical needs attended
to. Due to the large number of rescues in her shelter Diane is EXTREMELY
busy. She often does with out sleep or taking care of her own needs.
Mysticalshadow writes:
>She actually had the nerve to get rude with me after I offered to drive
>the entire way to the rescue facility to get him. I was just telling her
>how long it would take me to get there when she asked me,"Did you not
>hear a word I just said??? I said no one would be here
Again maybe you are unaware. Diane had to carry two ferrets to surgery on
that day and also had to take two of her long time rescues to help them to
the Bridge. Their quality of life had really gone down the tubes and they
were suffering. These two had been at the shelter for some time and had
wrapped their little paws around Diane's heart. It is difficult to let
go. I am so sorry and somewhat angry that you just made that process even
worse.
Mysticalshadow writes:
>Honestly, I don't think this woman cares if her ferrets get placed or not.
Well, just a month or so ago her numbers were above 100. Now they are
around 70. Sounds like she is adopting to me. Maybe she dosen't care if
a ferret get placed with YOU or not.
Mysticalshadow writes:
>I have never ran into anyone in rescue that has been so unorganized and
>unfriendly.
Unorganized? NOT. When is the last time you took care of that many
ferrets and met their every need? Takes top notch organization.
Unfriendly? She just cares more for the ferrets needs than your feelings.
>I currently work with a ferret rescue and none of this sits right with me.
If you currently work with a rescue, why dont you adopt from them? I
would be interested to know which rescue you currently work with.
Mysticalshadow writes:
>How is she giving the love and attention needed to 69 ferrets when she
>can't even arrange to meet me there????
All of Dianes ferrets get individual love and attention. Maybe that is
why she does not have time for you. You dont just walk in, pick up a
ferret and walk out. There is a process. If you work with a quality
shelter you should know this. An adoption takes at least an hour and
more if all of the process beforehand has not been completed.
Mysticalshadow writes:
>but everyone that is owned by ferrets knows that ferrets are not animals
>to be stuck in a cage or left unhandled. They thrive on their out time
>and our attention.
The majority of the ferrets at Diane's shelter are free roam in shifts.
The shifts are up to 12 hours long. All get out time and individual
attention.
Mysticalshadow writes:
>I've had several people to say that she may be a collector and not
>really a rescue.
Well, as stated earlier, she had over 100 ferrets. She now has 69. Seems
as if she is adopting to me. Also I know some of the adoptive parents.
Some of the BEST ferret folks I know. When Diane places a ferret, her
main concern is for the ferret. She wants to make sure that ferret is
happy, well taken care of and will never be uprooted again. Her
placements are slow because she is so thorough. For instance have you
been through a home check yet? What Diane is NOT concerned about is you
or your feelings. She has too many tiny lives depending on her to worry
about how you feel about her.
