As long as the two are never loose at the same time there should be no
trouble keeping birds and ferrets in the same house.  Ideally keep the bird
in a hanging cage so there is no way for the ferret to climb to the bird or
knock a stand over.  Ferrets are predators and you'd be surprised at how
fast instincts can kick in... I know I was!  The fluttering of wings is
intoxicating to the ferrets and I nearly lost my budgie to one of my
ferrets before realizing that they have to be kept separate at all times.
