My old vet back in Tennessee had told me that some vets recommend putting
Frontline or Advantage directly in the ear for mites. She recommended that
it wasn't necessary to put it in the ear. She said that it would work fine
just to use the product as directed on the instructions and it would get
rid of ear mites.

We ended up comprimising. We put the Advantage on the back of the neck and
then rubbed a dab around the area of each ear with our fingers (wash hands
extremely well afterwards!).

Mites were gone within days, and this was a bad case of mites.

Hope this helps,
Leigh
