I have three ferrets who have had insulinoma surgery. One is doing fine
without meds, one went the opposite way and developed diabetes, but the
third is on the usual medication for insulima: prednisone. Now that
PediaPred is no longer available, the vet writes me a prescription for a
bottle of prednisolone liquid. It may be cherry flavored, but it's not a
hit. The mix is strong - 15mg/5ml. To make this easier to measure, I add
two tsp. of water to one of the pred so that it's 15mg/15ml and I don't
have to do any math to give the right dose.

The prednisone works very well to keep her blood sugar under control and
keep her without symptoms. A four or six oz bottle costs me under $30
and lasts a long time. You'd have to ask your vet for the dosage.

Blessings
Judith
