Hi

I'm hoping the subject of this will get some attention. I'm almost at arms
reach. I'm decriptive so if you have a light stomach, i understand and
please move to the next subject. Thanks.

My ferret - 4 1/2 years old had been suffering somewhat strange stuff since
saturday morning - no warning - it just hit. Started with green slimy
poops - now we are at dark blood poops. He's seen a vet that tries her
best at ferret knowledge and I'm greatfull but I wanted to check with
'experienced' individuals.

Diagnosis - dehydrated to critical stage, blood in urine, high fever,
possible liver infection, very weak and depressed.

Treatment - fluids injected under the skin yesturday , 6 ml of pedialite
every half hour, antibiotics incase of infection, repeat antibiotics every
12 hours, fluids injects again later today.

He is extremely weak. There has not been any contact with possible ECE
carriers. We have another young ferret that shows signs of mucus with one
of her poops this morning but her activity level has not been affected -
they are seperated but have had cuddle time. 'Bad Idea'? They have
contact with an indoor only cat - all three have had all there shots under
a year ago.

Today Peuter is more responsive and 'argumentive' when its time for
pedialite but there is an increase in bowel movements. Everytime he goes
pee he also has a bowel movement that is dark blood clots - there has to be
ulcerations in his stomach!?. I've heard through a very reliable source
that problems with ferrets not eating causes ulcerations in stomach and
esophagus. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. I want to get rice
paplem in his stomach but nervous that this would make him relaps worse
instead of better.

Thank you for any responses.
Pam
