We have been keeping one of the shelter ferrets in our bedroom to keep him warm and quiet since he had some internal bleeding after his adrenal surgery. (He is doing fine now, thank goodness.) He was on the bed watching TV with us, and while "Beastmaster" was on he was quite content (even though the ferrets weren't in this particular episode). As soon as "Baywatch" came on he started trying to get off the bed! What a critic! I e-mailed Pet Warehouse and got an interesting reply, claiming that they DO screen buyers for their baby ferrets and that since they are big and have been in business for 25 years that means they're a good company. Also stated that they support local rescue groups. Anyone near them know about this? I still think that 7 weeks is too young, but if they're doing what they say they are maybe it's not so bad. Pet shelter peeves: People who say that their ferrets are current on their vaccinations and when you call their vet the ferrets haven't been there in 3,4,5 years. People who make appointments to look at ferrets for adoption and then don't call and don't show up. People who walk into pet stores and just leave their ferret there (happened to us this weekend, the poor guy was just COVERED in fleas). And then we get flack about too strict adoption requirements!
