Many of you probably already know but for those of you who don't there has been a major tragedy in south N.J. AN exotic animal shelter run by the Rodriguez family has been shut down by the ASPCA of Atlantic County due to unsatisfactory living conditions for the animals. A total of about 100 animals including 40-50 ferrets have been removed from the premisis. Ferret Hollow Shelter and Rescue of Red Bank, and KISTA ferret rescue have been contacted to help place the ferrets. Ferret Hollow is currently at max capacity (50 ferrets). 10-12 ferrets have already been fostered by volunteers in order to make room and aditional room will be made for another 8-12 ferrets. What is needed now is donations of food, litter/wood pellets, bedding, and money to take care of the additional load. Several of the ferrets are or will be in the need of vetrinary care. Ferret Hollow has been in contact with a vet tech from the hospital that provides vetrinary care for these ferrets and has been informed that at least one will need staple removal from an adrenal surgery and several others need meds or other vet care. Donations for Ferret Hollow can be sent to: Rick & Denise Jackson 129 W. Westside Ave. Red Bank, N.J 07701 In addition monetary donations can be sent to: Oakhurst Animal Hospital 225 Monmouth Rd. Oakhurst, N.J. 07755 Any volunteers or questions can be directed to Rick Jackson directly at (732)345-9278 Thank you in advance Robert Ramellini Trustee Ferret Hollow [Posted in FML issue 2827]
