Hmmmmm...One of my ferts, Billy-Bob, climbed up anything, right up until his death at 10. Garret is now 8 and has absolutely no fear of climbing...in fact, his favorite spot is on top of his 6 foot cage. He looks like Charlie Brown's beagle Snoopy, looking over the edge, down at me when I go into the ferret room! Only Bubba was not a climber, but...he was blind, so any sensation or thought of height, scared him. (He did not like to be picked up, but once up and in my arms or on my lap, he was in ferret heaven!) He was strong enough to climb..easily. In seriousness...I believe that the ability or desire to climb is probably linked to the freedom a fert has had throughout his life. If he has been caged all his life, climbing is probably kinda shakey, as his muscles aren't strengthened for climbing. But, if the fert has had a lot of time running free and getting into mischief, well..he will climb all his life. My opinion of course, but hey...opinions are free! Right Bob?!! For Our Ferrets!
