Being the primary party answering a phone at the ferret shelter year after
year, many days you think you have heard them all ( the excuses for not
keeping ferrets that is) then the call came yesterday...
"we adopted this ferret at a shelter in Lowell MA five months ago, but
it's been hot and it smells on hot days, so we want YOU to take it".......

sigh... yes indeedy, committment by owners and by folks who already
aodopted it from a shelter.......

So is it no wonder why on hot days -- when no one wants their pets -- and
shelter moms are up to their elbows cleaning the cages of ferrets who were
discarded, they get a little out of sorts?!

It is a great reminder - this type of call to all of us that are good
ferret folks - if we appreciate the shelters, if we want to see them
continue, we need to roll up shirt sleeves and find a way to help out. If
you can't travel to volunteer-be creative - hey-- set up a lemonade or iced
tea stand sell drinks and send the proceeds to that shelter!

Until the latest and greatest excuse arrives--- happy ferreting!
