>From: Brandon Burt <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Ferret "Thingies" > >>It's called a prepuce. >I think "prepuce" actually just means "foreskin". > >I thought a ferret thingy was called something like a >"bacula" I believe the young lady that first asked the question was referring to the externally visible "thingy" that's on a male ferret's belly. That is not his Bacula or Penis, which is normally internal. In "Biology and Diseases of the Ferret" by James G. Fox, says... "The prepuce is a fold of skin reflected over the penis, which is hairy on the external surface but bare within the fold." So the prepuce is the little "belly-button" looking thing on the tummy of a male ferret, at least by my understanding. By the way, in the section on a male ferret's urogenital anatomy, Mr. Fox does not use the word "bacula" once. While I don't doubt Bob C.'s accuracy, it doesn't seem to be commonly used to mean penis. For the ferrets, Mike * Michael F.
