Hi Lynn! Congrats on Bart! I have a story for you . . . At a ferret show I spoted a beautiful sable/chocolate hob kit. Just stunning and about 5 or 6 months old. The breeder had him and my husband and I convinced him to sell me this beautiful ferret. He had placed well in his class and had wonderful conformation. The breeder, Chris Hansen or Darling Creek Ranch - now out of business, sold us Bart. We called him DCR's Black Bart of DAF. Sadly, by the time Bart was 9 moths old he was completely blind. He was examined by our vet, Dr. Joel Schiff, who confirmed they were bi-lateral cataracts and 100% genetic. Long story short, we took the breeder to court as he KNEW we were breeders and sold us a breeding animal he knew had a stone cold blind mother. We won. Bart was then (we waited until he was an adult and the lawsuit over) neutered. He was also living with two girls named Buttons and Pepsi whom he got along with wonderfully. We then put Bart up for adoption - along with Pepsi & Buttons. They all three went to the same home and we were PROMISED they would not be seperated and would STAY in this home. I am a bit disappointed, but glad that Bart found his way to a fellow FMLer and a good home. He is a good boy, it will just take time ... and remember he IS blind and will startle easier. Also - try not to re-arange his furniture ...
