Hi fellow ferret friends, "Ferocious, fierce, dangerous or naturally inclined to do harm" is what is considered to be a wild animal. Which ferrets are now categorized to be in NYC according to the NY Newsday in todays paper. The headline- "New List Bans ' Wild Animals' " To cut it short, the Prohibited Pets in NY are now (just a list of some) Wolf, fox, hyena, dingo, jakal, bears.... ferrets, iguanas, etc, etc. Now you tell me does a ferret belong in the same category as these animals??? One parts states, "The five-member Board of Health, expressing concern about studies they'd read about ferrets attacking young children, voted unanimously to keep the furry critters on the list of banned animals." Now what I don't understand is did they do any studies about dogs or cats "attacking young children"? And also you can teach a dog to attack but you can you teach a ferret to attack? No. Don't get me wrong I love dogs and there is nothing wrong with them but I think that a dog or cat bite is more harmful to a child than a ferret bite. I'm sorry but I think that this is CRAZY and I just feel like venting to others who hopefully feel the same way as me. If anyone a copy of this article I can scan it and e-mail it. Just drop me a line and I will send it to you. Maybe I'll post it on my website, will that be illegal? On a different note, Spanky my oldest male is getting sooo fat, and I was wondering if anyone has ever put their ferret on a diet and if so how. Also I have 3 others and the oldest female- Maggie is soooo skinny. It looks like Spanky is depriving Maggie of all of her food. But anyway how is it possible to force feed one and diet the other? Plus I was wondering where I can find the duck soup recipe on-line or possibly someone can e-mail it to me. Other than that it's vet time soon (for shots) and I just moved to Brooklyn from NJ and I have a vet there and I am thinking of just sticking with the vet in NJ with all of this illegal mumbo jumbo going on. What do you think? Anyway e-mail: [log in to unmask] My prayers are out to those who crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Take care and make sure you pay attention to your fuzzies because they need you.
