The oldest references to the rainbow bridge we know of are in Norse mythos.
It was between Asgard and Midgard as I remember.  Vikings weren't noted for
homosexuality.  Especially the warriors that would be the vikings using the
rainbow bridge.
 
As for the corruption of rainbow bridge that is used by pet folks
that invent their own mythos - it didn't start with ferrets nor with
homosexuals.  I tend to immediately skip past messages about rainbow
bridge as it isn't something that interests me.
 
It has nothing to do with homosexuality.  It has nothing to do with
Christianity other than a vague notion of heaven and then it doesn't
differentiate between Christians and other believers in an after life.
 
Hmm...  So since Urban is Scandinavian and Rainbow bridge is Scandinavian
and tarot is 'pagan' and norse myths are 'pagan' can we get this ugly too?
 
No really just kidding.
