Hello everyone! Again, thanks to all of you who responded with such positive feedback for me (thanks for calling Pat!). I'm very happy to see that the idea of ferret insurance is wanted, and definitely needed. Here's a small update -- So far everything is moving along. I've requested some policies from insurance companies that carry insurance for cats and dogs to see how they have them set up. I also requested a list from my vet on the types of treatments done on ferrets most often with prices. I've been writing and reading and requesting as much information regarding insurance as possible. There's still a lot more to be done. Now I'm just waiting for the policy brochures to come. As soon as they do, I will let everyone know what information I've received. In the meantime, I do have a few questions that could help me keep moving until that mail arrives. 1) How many fuzzies do you have? 2) A little personal, but if you don't mind answering, what are approximate vet expenses in your household for said fuzzies? 3) Do you take in your fuzzies every year for their distemper/rabies and exams? 4) In some cases (like mine) do you have more than one exam per year on one or more of your fuzzies? 5) Ages? 6) Any surgeries, or any expected? 7) Blood work / x-rays? 8) Any lymph node biopsies, or any other type of biopsies done? These are just a few of the questions that came to mind when I was thinking about what type of policy would be good. I would appreciate any and all feedback with as many answers as you are willing to respond to. Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering my idea. Dooks to you and yours! --- (: Have a happy smiley day :) Anne Marie [log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 2718]
