ok. I have lurked about for some time and this is my first post. The mustelid murderer post brought me out of the shadows - good work! I live in the Austin, Texas area and have recently moved to a pre-1900's farmhouse with my two girls, Peanut and Twinkie. I have 12 foot ceilings and do not have any air conditioning, nor much heat for that matter... just call me a glutton for punishment. We had a close call this winter with the cold, but I was able to resolve the problem by placing a heating pad under their "tent house" which gave them their own little heated area. I was under the impression that they handled the cold better that. Apparently I was wrong and almost lost the little peanut. The cold doesn't take long, either. Now it's warmer. They have been moved from inside to outside on the back screened porch (sleeping porch, in the old language). The location is enclosed with screen, completely shaded, gets lots of breeze and they seem to be doing fine there for the time being. However, after reading the "mustelid murderer" post, I am now concerned about the summer. It gets hot. Without air conditioning, are they going to be ok? Woe is me... what to do... what to do... If I need to find them a new home, I should start looking now. Feel free to email me direct. [Posted in FML issue 2691]
