Good one! I agree. Just about every ferret that has come through my doors has had adrenals (if not one, then both). No one wants them, so they stay and usually die here of complications-males are especially prone to this. We do not put them through surgery if their health is compromised in any way, but more importantly, we cannot possibly pay for every single ferret who comes through our doors with adrenal problems. We will usually do the first surgery, but more times than not, both are involved. It is very frustrating and infuriating that these beautiful little creatures have to spend their lives in a shelter situation because no one wants them as older ferrets with adrenal problems. But yes, we love them and they have a good home here with the best food, toys, blankies, etc. It's not like their own home and human to love and care for them but it's the best I can do and believe me, I do love them!
