I posted last week about Sammy having had a couple of attacks that looked like insulinoma. Thanks to everyone who sent advice and support. I had him at the vet for a couple of days for observation, but he was fine the whole time he was there (not surprising since his attacks have been weeks apart). The vet again checked his blood sugar several times and it always remained on the low end of normal, even an hour after eating. The vet said something must be keeping it down, quite probably an insulinoma. He didn't necessarily recommend surgery at this early stage, but I thought we should try to get the cancer out as early as possible. Also, Sammy is still strong and healthy now and better able to tolerate surgery. He will be going in Wednesday morning for an exploratory and removal of any insulinomas if found. My vet (who has about 20 years ferret experience) says he's had good success with this type of surgery. Thanks again for everyone's help. I will let you know how things go. -- John Rosloot, Caregiver to Cassidy and Sammy With loving memories of my dear departed Buddy Technical analyst, Dept. of Computer Science, University of Regina Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada http://www.cs.uregina.ca/~john/ferrets [log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 2690]
