I've been interested in this discussion because a couple of weeks ago I bought my first copy of FERRETS. At first I was excited 'cause here was a second ferret magazine we could look forward to but as I read through it I got this odd sense of distance between the magazine and me. With Modern Ferret I always have the sense that I just spent the afternoon at Mary's house. I decided that my problem was I didn't know these people and so I looked for the editors page so I could meet them and their ferrets. I'm still looking... Also I was mildly annoyed that in the article on Endocrine Diseases, the section on adrenal gland disease just referred me to a previous issue. I hadn't yet given up on this magazine so I looked for where I could order back issues. I can't. I can order a specific article reprint for $5.75. Anyway the upshot is I decided not to subscribe. I don't get any feelings that this publisher is as entranced with the wee sleekit beasties as I am. In a complete non sequitor.. Is a swollen vulva in adrenal disease a more severe symptom than the hair loss or is it just another indicator of hormone imbalance. From the letters, people seem so pleased when the swelling is reduced even if the hair isn't growing back. Our oldest girl (8+ yrs) has become almost completely bald and has aswollen vulva but thanks to Bob C's gravy is bouncing around like a 2 year old. Should she be on Ovaban or some such thing?
