Some British profs were visiting the labs and went to supper with Steve who happened to be wearing a ferret shirt. Sounds like one of them mentioned that at Cambridge there's a don who walks around with one and sometimes gives lectures with the critter wandering in and out of his clothing. We love Modern Ferret, but we'd also buy the ones by Fancy if they used someone who knows ferrets to check accuracy of the material they print, if they protected ferret owners in FFZs, and if they printed retractions. Has anyone ever let them know about these things? YES!!!!! Many, many people have, many times. Have any of the defenders of Fancy ever thought about the amount of work Fancy causes people in ferret clubs, ferrets shelters, ferret organizations, or who have ferret webpages when such ALREADY BADLY OVER-WORKED VOLUNTEERS have to scramble to protect ferrets and owners because of whichever most recent Fancy goof has occurred? Do you realize how complicated it is when CA volunteers have to get a ferret airlifted to an out-of-state shelter to save its life, and raise money to help someone which a huge fine? These people are supposed to be your friends! I think there's room for multiple ferret magazines, but Steve and I aren't going to waste money on a publication which is so rife with major mistakes, especially not when we have one (Modern Ferret) which is so accurate, as well as the AFR newsletter that is now approaching small magazine size. If the folks at Fancy would come up to the standards that we all have a right to expect we'd buy it, TOO, and continue reading Modern Ferret and AFR just as loyally as ever. (We read some other small publications, too.) [Posted in FML issue 2641]
