Hi!
I just wanted to comment and give my opinion on the post about the
deception of the landlord, i fully symphatize with the difficulty in
finding a place to live where ferrets are welcome or accepted, but i really
feel it is wrong to tell ANYONE that they are kept like hamsters, we(as in
ferret owners) are trying to educate people as we go along, and by setting
examples, it is so sad to know there are ferrets that have never been out
of the cage to play! and i know that is not the case with your fuzzies,
but i have personally rescued a sad little creature with adrenal
(completely bald) where the owner had kept her in a tiny little cage for
three years and simply didn't know about ferrets, in other words kept her
like a hamster!

Lets not add to the missconceptions about ferrets, landlords are people
too, and in all likelyhood visit a petstore on occasion, Thats how i became
ferret owned! (i'm not a landlord :)

I'm not suggesting we tell our potential landlord about all the "accidents"
and "misshaps" just simply tell them that they are always caged when
unsupervised, and litterboxtrained.

and do your best to protect the property as far as landlords are concerned,
i got a bunch of doormats placed underneath the litterboxes through out the
house so that when they don't really make it all the way they are staining
MY carpet.

and please don't think i am flaming, but i feel that although this is
helping your cause in a short term, it is damaging to the ferrets.

Whats done is done, it is easy to be wise after the fact, but please think
about it!

Sincerely
Josephine
