In reply to Julie Dowdy; "Come on! Law is law!" Yes! Right On! You Go Girl! Obviously, the CaCa Gestapo is correct! After all "Law is law." Using your rational, all CA ferret owners should be turned in to the CDF&G for the criminal acts they are perpetrating against the state. "Law is law; right? Seize the ferrets! Seize the criminal ferret owners! Put the criminals in jail and kill the vicious ferrets! "Law is law!" Wow! Blessed be the Law! NJ Shelter; I perceived Scotts' reply as a "question of motive," and "cause and effect." He (nor I) have condoned any shelter operator for not obtaining a lawful permit. The question is not only, why does this operator not have a valid shelter permit; but what will happen to the ferrets in his or her charge, if siezed? Are you more concerned with the legal status of the shelter or the quality of life for the ferrets involved? Does this in someway, adversely affect the original complainant? Does not having a permit mean that the ferrets in question are being collected, neglected or abused? Does your paying a $100 permit fee guarantee that all the ferrets in your shelter are properly cared for? What the permit is or isn't depends on the operator of the shelter, assets, and available resources. If you want to help the ferrets in the "illegal" shelter; Why not help that shelter become legal? Isn't the lives of the ferrets more important than the current legal status of the shelter, or am I on the wrong board? Is it better to curse the dark or to light a candle?
