Hi everyone, Had to add my 2 cents in about why more than 2 ferts. I had no intentions of getting any more than one fuzzy when I planned to acquire my first baby (I saw how successful my boyfriend was with his one fuzzy, Casey, at the time). Then I got Jasmine back in April '96... she truly is the perfect ferret, a great PR ambassador for all fuzzies. Very sociable/personable, LOVES all humans, never, ever bites or nips, dooks like crazy, etc. Made me instantly fall in love with all things ferret. :) Then my boyfriend had to give up Casey due to multiple jobs/no time to take care of her anymore, in Oct '96. After I saw the way Jasmine and Casey bonded, happily played and snuggled together, that did it. I was truly hooked more than ever! During a weak moment at a pet store (ferret math), I gave in to little Samantha in Feb. '97 -- she is the sweetest, funniest little silver mitt west of the Mississippi, not to mention famous. :-) But I soon noticed that when my 3 babies played, one was always left out. Even though I practiced restraint for a whole year, I therefore felt justified in obtaining my fourth little girl, Daisy, in April '98 (who will be celebrating her 1st birthday this week - Happy Birthday, Daisy!!) Now for me, 2 ferrets probably would have been fine. I have discovered that 4 is definitely all I would like because they require a great deal of individual care & attention ( I live alone in a 1 BR apt. and work fairly long hours at my job, so adding more to my well-established family & this small apt. wouldn't be fair to the ferts.) It's definitely a personal choice, but I do agree with everyone else that "more is merrier." My babies come first before my own needs, and I always save & spend extra money each year for their vet needs, supplies, food, etc. I also believe having equal #s of ferts is more fair to them too. They really seem to pair themselves up with one other best friend, which is another reason why I ended up with 4 instead of 3. So there you have it! Hugs to all fuzzies, whether in families of 1, 2, 3, 4, or more! ;-) Jen and furgirls: Casey, Jasmine, Samantha and Daisy [Posted in FML issue 2588]
