Thanks to all the people who wrote in and ICQ'd their information to me. I've passed on all the info to my friends and they will make a decision based on what is best for them. Overall, what I got from all the responses was: the anti-rejection drugs lower the immune system, which means people can get sick a lot easier. Animals can harbour illnesses and can potentially make someone who has a supressed immune system sick, potentially fatally, since they can't fight it as well. However, the risks are far less with ferrets, being an indoor animal they are not exposed to things outside of what's already in the house. What the decision will be depends solely on the person involved and his wife, and whatever their doctor says. Hopefully, these people will be able to keep their ferrets and remain firmly entrenched in the ferret family network ;o) They have already done a lot for ferrets, and we can only hope that they can continue to not only do more to help the ferrets, but the ferrets can do more to help them. Hugs to the fuzzies. Sam ----------- To see some awesome ferret cards, drop in on http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~fanmail/cards/ferretcard.htm [Posted in FML issue 2545]
