A different Kind of Ferret Math

While subbing in a 5th grade class yesterday, I was teaching a Math lesson
about the associative property and multiplication. There were a few 'word
problems' that the textbook included with the lesson. One of them read (&
I'm paraphrasing):

Jim has 3 ferrets. Their food costs $15 a twice a month. How much does he
spend on their food every year?

Unfortunately, I ran out of time and didn't get up to that problem.
